Raiders to host video call with Oregon QB Justin Herbert on Monday

The 2020 NFL Draft will be like any other in its history. For the first time ever, teams are no longer allowed to meet face-to-face with draft prospects due to the nationwide quarantine. However, teams are finding other ways to get information about the top prospects in the class.

FaceTime via platforms such as Skype and Zoom have allowed draft prospects to keep in touch with NFL teams. And according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Raiders are scheduled to talk with Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert on Monday.

While the Raiders have two quarterbacks they feel good about with Derek Carr and Marcus Mariota, it’s always wise to do due diligence with the top quarterback prospects in the class. If Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden believe Herbert has a higher ceiling than either Carr or Mariota, it wouldn’t be a stretch for them to consider the former Oregon quarterback at No. 12.

However, don’t expect Herbert to make it to pick No. 12 with several quarterback-needy teams still drafting ahead of them. But it is notable that the Raiders do have at least some interest in Herbert.
