By now, you know the players that are the most commonly mocked to the Raiders at pick No. 12; it’s Oklahoma wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy. But deciding which one is the better fit in the Raiders’ offense continues to be a challenge.
In the latest mock draft by ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr., the Raiders didn’t have to make a choice between the two as Lamb went off the board at pick No. 11 to the New York Jets. That made the Raiders choice easy as they selected the 2018 Biletnikoff Award winner in Jerry Jeudy:
So let’s help Jon Gruden’s offense with this pick, then address the defense with the team’s second Round 1 pick (No. 19). Darren Waller emerged as a really good tight end last season, but the Raiders don’t have a true No. 1 receiver. Jeudy, a polished route runner and smart receiver, would instantly become their best pass-catcher. And with a nucleus of Jeudy, Waller and Josh Jacobs, Las Vegas would have one of the NFL’s best young WR-RB-TE combos to help whomever starts at quarterback in 2020.
While many have Lamb as their No. 1 receiver in the class, Jeudy might be a better fit in the Raiders’ offense. He has more speed, is a better route runner and has the ability to play in the slot or on the outside. If Jeudy is available at pick No. 12, he would be a slam-dunk pick for the Raiders.
