Raiders select Utah State QB Jordan Love at No. 19 in latest CBS Sports mock draft

At this point in the offseason, it seems like it is pretty much a consensus that the Raiders will draft a receiver at pick No. 12. However, predicting which one they could select is anyone’s guess.

But for the most part, it appears the Raiders have ruled out drafting a quarterback at No. 12, assuming Tua Tagovailoa or Justin Herbert don’t fall to them. However, the possibility of drafting one at No. 19 still seems reasonable.

In a recent mock draft by Josh Edwards of CBS Sports, he has the Raiders selecting Utah State quarterback Jordan Love with the No. 19 overall pick. Take a look at his reasoning behind the selection and why it could make sense if the team grabs their future No. 1 receiver earlier in the draft:

Las Vegas added a game-changing wide receiver at No. 12 overall (CeeDee Lamb) before swooping back down to address the quarterback position. Love is a good value at this stage considering recent buzz that he could go within the top 10.

Love has one of the highest ceilings in the entire draft, as he has an elite arm and athleticism to make plays on the run. However, he needs a ton of seasoning and likely will need to ride the bench a year or two before he’s ready to start.

Picking Love at No. 19 would lower expectations some as he wouldn’t be pressed into action. He could sit behind Derek Carr for the next year or two, and then the team could revisit their evaluation of Love. If he falls to No. 19, it’s certainly a conversation that is worth having given the importance of the quarterback position. But don’t expect him to be there as we know quarterbacks are typically overdrafted come April.
