The Raiders currently sit at 3-2 in the AFC South, just outside of playoff contention in the conference. But with a much easier schedule ahead for Las Vegas, a playoff berth is certainly in their sights. However, it’s never too early to look ahead to the NFL Draft as it provides us a “watch list” of names to monitor throughout the college football season.
In a recent mock draft by Drae Harris of The Draft Network, he had the Raiders selecting Penn State defensive end Jayson Oweh at No. 14. in the 2021 NFL Draft. Take a look at his reasoning behind the selection below:
“The Raiders love to draft speed and splash players. Oweh is an outstanding athlete with a tremendous amount of upside. Las Vegas gambles on the upside on one of the best overall athletes in the draft.”
As a sophomore in the Big Ten, Oweh tallied just five tackles for a loss in 11 games. However, a team selecting him inside the top-20 would be betting on his size and speed to translate to the NFL. At 6’5. 256 pounds, allegedly ran a 4.33 40-yard dash, according to Bruce Feldman of The Athletic.
Oweh has a ton of talent and special athleticism, but he still needs to grow as a pass-rusher. Keep an eye on this Penn State star when the team opens up their season on October 24 against Indiana. With a strong junior season, Oweh could very well work his way into the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
