Raiders select Florida QB Kyle Trask in latest 2021 PFF mock draft

For the first time since 2018, the Raiders are projected to have just one first-round pick. That means it will be even tougher to narrow down who the team could potentially select wherever their first-round pick lands.

Could the Raiders potentially take the heir apparent to Derek Carr in the 2021 NFL Draft? That seems like the question we are constantly asking every year under Jon Gruden. But what if the team does decide to pick a quarterback? Who are some potential options outside of the top-10?

In a recent mock draft by Michael Renner of Pro Football Focus, he has the Raiders selecting Florida quarterback Kyle Trask in the middle of the first round. Here is his explanation behind the pick:

“If the Raiders miss the playoffs for the third straight season under head coach Jon Gruden, you can bet all options will be on the table at the quarterback position. Trask seems like just the type of pocket passer Gruden craves, and if he plays as he did in Week 1 for the rest of the season, the Raiders will have to trade up for him. He had four big-time throws in a superb 416-yard passing day against Ole Miss.”

Trask will take on South Carolina after a monster performance against Ole Miss. Another strong SEC performance will certainly put the Gators’ quarterback in the first-round discussion come April. Keep an eye on Trask this season as a potential riser throughout the draft process.
