Raiders request head coach interviews with Lions coordinators

The Raiders are in the market for a head coach and the first place they are looking to tap in the top team in football.

When you’re the top team in your conference and arguably the best team in football, you’re going to have a few teams trying to poach your coordinators. Which is why not 24 hours after the Raiders officially fired Antonio Pierce as head coach, they put in a request to interview Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn.

Johnson has been a big name in head coaching circles for the past couple offseasons, and it looks like this offseason he could have his pick of interested teams. The Lions have the league’s top ranked offense and have been top five in each of his three seasons on the job.

Glenn was a hot DC candidated four years ago when he was a DB coach with the Saints. Now he’s proven himself in that position, teams are looking at him as potential head coaching material. The Lions defense is seventh in the league in points allowed this season.
