Raiders grab top offensive line prospect in latest 2024 NFL mock draft

Believe it or not, we are just a few weeks away from the draft process really heating up. The Senior Bowl and the Shrine Bowl will start in January and that is when things really start to get going.

With the Raiders likely out of the 2023 playoffs, that means we are just two weeks away from the offseason. And with the Raiders likely to have a top-16 pick once again, what position might they target in Round 1?

In a recent mock draft by Nate Tice of Yahoo.com, he has the Raiders going back to the offensive line in Round 1. At pick No. 13, he mocked Amarius Mims, an offensive tackle from Georgia, to the Raiders. Here is a snippet of why Tice believes Mims could be a great fit in Las Vegas:

Cornerback is also something that can be looked at here, but the Raiders were able to snatch up Jack Jones in November and that gave them a potential mid-term answer. Instead, the Silver and Black make a bet on Mims’ sky-high ceiling and continue to revamp their franchise and fortunes with building blocks that are valued no matter who is on top of the regime.

Building the offensive line is never a bad idea, especially when the Raiders have such a young quarterback. But it is an interesting selection given how well Jermaine Eleumunor and Thayer Munford have played this season. Eleumunor is a free agent after the year, so that could play a part in this pick.

Mims is a right tackle at Georgia and has outstanding size (6’7, 340 pounds). If the Raiders want to get bigger and more athletic in the trenches, this isn’t the worst idea. Keep Mims on your radar during the 2024 draft process as he could be a target for Las Vegas in Round 1.
