A potential need at guard took a turn for more urgent last month when the team traded Gabe Jackson to the Seahawks. They cut and brought back Richie Incognito, but at the age of 38, this figures to be his last season.
They also re-signed Denzelle Good which means they have two starters for this upcoming season, but planning for the near future as well as for injury would make sense.
That being said, they don’t absolutely have to get a guard in this draft. They signed former Texans center Nick Martin, who can start at guard should he not win the center job. And they drafted John Simpson in the fourth round last year, though Simpson played sparingly and didn’t offer any reason to think he is ready to step into a greater role anytime soon.
The entire offensive line is in flux outside of left tackle Kolton Miller, so guard has to be on the radar for this draft. Here are a few who could be that right guy.
