Raiders claim CB Javelin Guidry off waivers from Cardinals

Former Jets, Cardinals CB Javelin Guidry claimed by Raiders

Let the gamesmanship begin! Today the Raiders claimed Javelin Guidry off waivers from the Cardinals according to his agent. Probably not coincidentally, the Raiders play the Cardinals next Sunday. Which means they add someone to the roster who may have some insight into their next opponent.

Guidry joined the Cardinals on August 31 after he had been waived by the Jets. So, it’s just a couple weeks he spent in Arizona, but every bit of intel can only help.

Despite the former Utah Ute ran a 4.29 40-yard dash at the 2020 combine, he went undrafted and was signed by the Jets. He made the regular season roster, appearing in 11 games with two starts that season and returned last season to appear in all 17 games, starting three. He has three pass breakups and four forced fumbles in his two NFL seasons.

Guidry is the second cornerback to be added to the roster Monday. The team also added Nickell Roby-Coleman. We should soon see what the corresponding roster moves are for these additions.

One of the moves figures to be sending Anthony Averett to injured reserve with a reported broken thumb.
