Raiders CB Amik Robertson named ‘analytical standout’ in 2020 NFL Draft

Of all the picks the Raiders made over the weekend, the one that has been praised unanimously is the selection of cornerback Amik Robertson. Outside of height, there just isn’t a lot not to like about his game.

Not only do film watchers love his tape due to his ball skills and tenacity, but the analytical community is convinced he was one of the best cornerbacks in the class.

In a recent article by Pro Football Focus, Robertson was named one of the best analytical selections of the 2020 NFL Draft due to his outstanding grades in coverage. Their numbers say that he had the second-highest playmaker rate in college football, only behind Jeffrey Okudah, who was the No. 3 pick in the draft.

According to the site, Robertson graded out as the top cornerback in several coverage categories, including in single coverage and in contested catch situations. He was dominant in just about every coverage scenario possible and that should translate to the NFL.

It remains to be seen what his role will be with the Raiders, but the expectation is that he will compete for slot snaps with veteran Lamarcus Joyner. Don’t be surprised if Robertson ends up being one of the steals of the draft as he could contribute right away for the Raiders.
