Next man up sometimes means someone not on the roster currently. And it’s important to keep a full camp roster. Friday the Raiders place CB Cre’Von LeBlanc on injured reserve and replaced him with free agent Nate Brooks.
Brooks was most recently with the Arizona Cardinals. He was released three days ago on August 9th, which means the Raiders scooped him up not long after he cleared waivers.
The fourth year cornerback has appeared in four games in his career, with two starts, both as a rookie in 2019 with the Dolphins. One of those starts came against the Patriots in which he had a pass breakup and three tackles — probably how he got on McDaniels’s radar.
The 25-year-old spent last season on the Titans’ practice squad after spending training camp with the Buccaneers. He also spent time with the Ravens.
The North Texas product entered the league as an undrafted free agent signing by the Cardinals.
