Raheem Mostert shares some extremely kind words about Mike McDaniel

There’s nothing but love between the player and coach.

Familiarity and continuity seem to be two things that head coach Mike McDaniel values in his teams, as he’s done a lot to keep coaches and players that have been either with the Dolphins or worked with him in the past.

One player that Miami added in the last week was running back Raheem Mostert, who spent the last five seasons with McDaniel in San Francisco. The 29-year-old is expected to split time with Chase Edmonds in the backfield and take the Dolphins’ running game to the next level.

Due to his experience working with McDaniel, Mostert was asked by Travis Wingfield on the team-produced series “Drive Time” to share why he likes the coach’s system. The running back took that opportunity to shower McDaniel with praise.

“First and foremost, I love Mike, as a person,” Mostert said. “His tenacity, people don’t really get to see that just yet… I’ve been fortunate enough to see him and stuff like that in San Francisco. To be able to see him transition from offensive coordinator job and run-game coach to now being the head coach, man, it’s just amazing. His tenacity, his leadership, the way he wants you to feel when you come into the building. I’ve already had several talks with him in the building since I’ve been here. He just makes you feel at home. He does everything in a fashion where you’re part of the family. It’s not just about the Xs and Os he wants to help you grow as a person, as a man, and as a human. That’s one of the biggest things you want to see from a head coach, player-wise.”

With all of the positive things that McDaniel’s former and current players have said about him, it’s no surprise how quickly he’s won over a good portion of the fanbase before he’s even coached a game.
