As the Longhorns enter their final stretch of the regular season, Quinn Ewers has been a popular name for yearly awards. On Thursday, the Texas quarterback continued to make headlines as he was named a Top 10 Finalist for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. Each year, it is given to the top senior or upperclassman quarterback set to graduate with their class.
In six starts this season, Ewers had led the Longhorns to five wins and completed 130 of his 188 passes. The Southlake, Texas, product has also added 14 passing touchdowns to his resume. With Ewers under center, the Longhorns have beaten three ranked teams, with two wins coming on the road.
Although Ewers has missed some time this year, when healthy, he has been one of the Longhorns’ best players. Last week against Vanderbilt, he completed a season-high 27 passes for a season-high 288 yards. Dating back to the 2022 campaign, he has won nine-straight true road games.
With wins at a premium, the Longhorns will need that trend to continue.

While his statistics are impressive, Ewers has also helped the Longhorns offense become one of the best in the nation. They rank 11th nationally in completion percentage, 14th in team passing efficiency, and 21st in total offense.
With the College Football Playoffs quickly approaching, Ewers will not have to wait long to learn his fate. The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award winner will be announced on Friday, Dec. 6, at the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award celebration.
