QB Baker Mayfield wins Fedex Air Player of the Week, NVP award

The awards keep pouring in for the Tampa Bay signal caller’s big performance against the Packers.

The accolades keep pouring in for Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Mayfield was awarded the NFC Offensive Player of the Week Award on Wednesday for his four-touchdown, 381-yard performance against the Green Bay Packers in Week 15. He was awarded with two other awards after, though, further showcasing the dominance he displayed against Tampa Bay’s former NFC Central Rival.

Mayfield won the FedEx Air Player of the Week award, awarded via fan vote to the week’s best quarterback performance. Mayfield beat out the Detroit Lions’ Jared Goff and the Cleveland Browns’ Joe Flacco to become the fifth Bucs quarterback to win the award. The last player to do so was quarterback Tom Brady, who won it for his performance against the Carolina Panthers in Week 17.

On top of that, Mayfield won another prestigious award — the Nickelodeon Valuable Player Award, or the NVP:

Mayfield is actually the second Bucs player this year to win the award. The first player was Bucs wideout Mike Evans, who won it in Week 2 for his performance against the Chicago Bears. Both players didn’t get slimed, as per tradition — Evans made fellow wideout Trey Palmer get slimed, while Mayfield decided to slime the trophy instead.
