Purdue ascends to No. 1, Baylor takes a tumble in latest Coaches Poll

The Purdue Boilermakers take over as the new No. 1 in this week’s Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

There is a new No. 1 team in the latest coaches poll after the Purdue Boilermakers took care of the Arizona Wildcats on Saturday, 92-84. It was the first loss for the Wildcats on the season.

The former Tar Heel Caleb Love led all scorers with 29 points. The Boilermakers were led by a trio of players with 20+ points. Braden Smith, Fletcher Loyer, and Zach Edey scored a vast majority of the points in the game.

The Baylor Bears also lost their first game of the season in demoralizing fashion after falling 45-17 in the first half. The Bears would outscore Michigan State 47-43 in the second half but the damage was already done.

The Miami Hurricanes were the only team to fall out of the top 25 after losing to Colorado 90-63.
