Punting is winning! Iowa’s Tory Taylor named Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week

America’s favorite punter, Tory Taylor, and Iowa’s field position weapon has been named the Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week.

Few people in America do their job better than Tory Taylor punts a football and flips field position. The Iowa Hawkeyes have a true weapon in their punter and special teams unit that can, and undoubtedly has, swung games in their direction. He did it again recently and it has earned him some very well-deserved recognition.

Tory Taylor put on a punting display in Iowa’s win over the Purdue Boilermakers with the constant flipping of field position. Due to that, Taylor has been named the Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week.

Taylor punted six times for Iowa with an average of 47.3 yards per punt against Purdue. His long on the day was a whopping 61-yard punt. Two of the punts were down inside the Boilermakers’ own 20-yard line making life very hard against Iowa’s defense. Taylor was crucial in getting the win.

Tory Taylor has punted 36 times on the season so far for 1,729 yards. He is averaging 48 yards per punt with 15 punts traveling more than 50 yards. He has shown his pinpoint accuracy as well with 12 punts landing inside the opponents’ 20-yard line and only having one kick result in a touchback.
