The Buffalo Bills have their new stadium en route. A huge talking point in those discussions between parties was the amount of public funding to help build it.
At the time, the team ended up getting the most-ever taxpayer dollars in sports history to help the construction of a new venue. That figure stood at $850 million for the $1.4 billion stadium construction cost.
That record has already been broken by the Tennessee Titans.
According to Titans Wire, Tennessee could be coughing up as much as $1.26B in public funding for their new stadium in the city of Nashville.
Similar to the Bills, the Titans released renderings of their new project in recent weeks.
But there is a bit of a curve ball. The Titans’ new home, which will feature a dome, will cost around $2.1B.
In terms of solid dollars, the Titans got more from taxpayers. Regarding percentage, they got about the same as the Bills.
Both clubs will see near 60 percent of construction costs covered by public funding.
Prior to the Bills and the Titans, the record for tax dollars going toward a NFL stadium came via the Las Vegas Raiders. Approximately $750M in taxpayer dollars help build Allegiant Stadium in 2020.
