The Minnesota Vikings have a plethora of impending free agents this season, including two starters on the defensive line in Dalvin Tomlinson and Jonathan Bullard. The jury is still out on whether the Vikings will re-sign him, but if they don’t, they may need to look to the NFL Draft.
On Monday, Trevor Sikkema of Pro Football Focus released his latest mock draft and had the Vikings selecting Baylor defensive lineman Siaki Ika.
“Cornerback could certainly be an option here for the Vikings, who just need to get better on defense in every facet.” But with some big investments in the secondary last draft, perhaps they let those picks pan out a bit more and opted for a player like Siaki Ika, who, at 6-foot-4 and 355 pounds, boasts unique burst and pass-rush ability for a nose tackle.
This would be a pick many fans would scoff at, and rightfully so. The first-round picks should be used on premium positions, and selecting a defensive lineman will not win over many fans. Should the Vikings go this route, they would be able to pair Ika alongside Harrison Phillips in hopes of getting more interior pressure next season.
