Pro Bowl CB compares Jerry Jeudy to Amari Cooper

Former Alabama WR Jerry Jeudy is turning heads at Broncos Training camp and is drawing comparisons to another top former Alabama WR.

Former Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy is already turning heads as a member of the Denver Broncos. The No. 15 overall selection fro the 2020 NFL draft is now drawing comparisons to one of the top receivers in the league.

Broncos Pro Bowl cornerback A.J. Bouye has high praise for Jeudy, after spending sometime lined up against the Crimson Tide product at training camp, reports Aric DiLalla of DenverBroncos.com.

“When I watch Jerry Jeudy, he kind of reminds me a lot of Amari Cooper in Oakland with how he’s running his routes, especially when guys are playing off,” Bouye said. “… The stems that he showed, leverage and how he attacks everything — he gets your feet to stop and that’s when it’s over. I like seeing things like that. It’s just helping me game plan myself against him because you never know when other receivers are going to try and implement that.”

Jeudy, who was recognized in 2019 as college footballs best catch passer as the recipient of the Biletnikoff award, seems to already be performing as an NFL receiver without even playing a single snap.

“Being in the league for a while, I’ve seen a lot of rookie receivers come in and it seems like they don’t have it figured out,” Bouye said. “You can look at those two and tell — whether it’s in the offseason, coaching that they’ve had outside — they’re real polished in routes, especially Jeudy. He never gives you the same look every time and I’m loving going against him. He’s going to keep me true to my technique.”

Cooper, a fellow former member of the Crimson Tide, had an impressive rookie season in 2015 with the Oakland Raiders. In that season, Cooper totaled 1,070 yards off of 72 receptions for six touchdowns and an average of 14.9 yards per catch.

In his rookie season, Cooper was named to his first of four Pro Bowls. Those are hefty shoes for Jeudy to fill.
