‘Price is Right’ contestant wins the saddest prize: 2020 Stanley Cup Final tickets

Who knows when and if the 2020 Cup Final will even happen.

A lot of things are being put on hold as the nation continues to tackle the devastating coronavirus that has killed tens of thousands across the country.  It wasn’t so long ago though that life was chugging along as normal and this recent ‘Price is Right’ clip is a brutal reminder of all the things that just aren’t gonna happen in the near future.

On Wednesday, a sharp-eyed Twitter user recorded a young man named Andrew who was about to play Secret X for a shot at the grand prize–a trip for him and three guests to Game 4 of the 2020 Stanley Cup Final.

As Hank points out, this is obviously pre-recorded but just look at how excited he is! Because fate is a cruel mistress, Andrew did end up winning the prize.

Right now, no one knows when sports will be back.

League officials are working to try to hypothesize return dates but the truth is that everything is a giant unknown.  When will sports come back? No idea. When can we stop social distancing? Also no clue.  When can we see elderly family again? A big, fat, shrug emoji. When can we idly wander into a grocery store without the constant anxiety and fear of getting sick? Your guess is as good as mine!

The NHL is still holding out hope to be able to wrap up the 2020 season and award the Stanley Cup, but that is a wish that, as of now, has no concrete plans attached to it. One thing many people agree on though is that when sports eventually comes back, it will likely be without fans in the audience.

So, it doesn’t look good for Andrew to be able to attend the 2020 Cup Final, but hopefully the NHL will let him use these tickets for the 2021 Final or, man, even 2022.
