The Big 12 opener for No. 20 Texas will tip-off on Saturday as the Longhorns host the Texas Tech Red Raiders at the Moody Center.
The Red Raiders, along with the Longhorns, have an 11-2 record with losses for both teams coming from top programs. Texas Tech’s first loss came from Villanova on Nov. 22, and their second to Butler in an overtime thriller on the road.
Sophomore Pop Isaacs is Tech’s leading scorer with 17.4 points per game, and he shoots 38.3% from the field and a solid 33.3% from the three-point line.
Fifth-year senior Warren Washington is having the best season of his career, averaging 8.4 rebounds per game and nearly two blocks. The 7-footer will be a tough matchup for the Longhorns as they try to contain the big man, as he also shoots a respectable 62.5%.
The Red Raiders’ high-powered offense has scored at least 75 points in every game since Nov. 24. Texas will need to find a way to shut them down to secure a win in the final Big 12 opener for the Longhorns.
