Previewing Notre Dame & Georgia Tech’s weekend showdown

Another showdown in South Bend this weekend. Get ready baseball fans!

Two weeks ago a first happened in the history of Frank Eck Stadium, which opened its doors on Notre Dame’s campus in 1994.

When Notre Dame and Louisville matched up it was the first series in the history of the stadium to be played between two teams ranked in college baseball’s top-15.

Now, just two weeks later, the second top-15 match-up comes your way this weekend as No. 12 Notre Dame (13-5, 12-4) welcomes No. 14 Georiga Tech (14-10, 11-7)  to the Eck.

Georgia Tech had been ranked as high as sixth nationally before hitting a bit of a speedbump in losing two-of-three to Virginia and dropping their latest contest to USC Upstate.

The Yellow Jackets do bring a couple of great starting pitchers to South Bend as junior Andy Archer has posted a remarkable 1.86 ERA in seven starts while Brent Hunter has also been stellar with a 2.82 mark in his seven starts.

Offensively, Georgia Tech is led by freshman catcher Kevin Parada who leads the team in hits with 39 and is tied for the team lead with five home runs.

Game times for this weekend’s series are as follows and can be seen on ESPN+:

Friday:  5 p.m. ET
Saturday:  2 p.m. ET
Sunday:  1 p.m. ET
