Preseason Week 1: Browns vs. Jaguars postgame injury report

Here’s a rundown of the Jaguars injuries in the loss to Cleveland in the preseason opener.

With the first game of the preseason now in the books, the Jacksonville Jaguars managed to avoid major injuries, but the team didn’t emerge unscathed. Several players left the game early, including cornerback Tre Herndon, who exited the game in the first half with a knee injury and was listed as questionable to return, and the Jags ended his night at that after he notched one tackle.

Jacksonville will hope that the injury is nothing serious, as Herndon is expected to provide major depth to the cornerback group this season. That will be especially important if there’s merit to the rumors that the team is shopping projected starter C.J. Henderson.

Herndon wasn’t the only injury in the secondary. Safety Andrew Wingard, who saw significant action last year but is now in a battle for a roster spot, exited in the second half with a concussion and was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

The final injury came to defensive tackle Daniel Ross in the fourth quarter, who suffered an ankle injury on a chop block. He was also listed as questionable to return, but with the game winding down, his night also came to an end when he left the field.

Ross was acquired off waivers in December, and he appeared in two games in the final month of the season, totaling three tackles (one for loss). He’s another guy who needs a solid showing in the preseason to make the final roster.

The Jaguars will hope that none of these injuries are serious, and we’ll keep you updated as more news breaks regarding the status of these players.
