Prediction, betting odds and advice for Texas at Arkansas in Week 12

Analyzing Texas vs Arkansas game with odds and lines, predictions and best bets.

Rivalry back on! The Texas Longhorns travel to Fayetteville to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks in a renewal of an old rivalry. For much of the 20th Century, Texas vs. Arkansas outshined Texas vs. Texas A&M and defined Southwest Conference football.

The Longhorns have faced Arkansas a handful of times since the Hogs left the Southwest Conference for the SEC in the early 90s. The last time was in 2021 in the famous “Welcome to the SEC” game. UT was ambushed and demolished 40-21. Hogs fans stormed the field after the game.

That was Texas coach Steve Sarkisian’s first year in Austin and he found out very quickly how hot the rivalry has remained in the State of Arkansas.

“I don’t know what Darrell Royal did to Arkansas back in the day,” Sarkisian quipped this week, “but they absolutely hate our guts. And I think we learned that the first time around when we went there.”

At least the Longhorns staff has first hand knowledge know of how deep the hatred is in Razorback country. While the rivalry emotions have faded in Texas, they’ve stayed hot up north.

On paper, Texas has a superior team, worthy of the spread. But the fervor UT will feel from the stands will be tough to overcome.

Texas at Arkansas prediction, pick

If Texas can handle the atmosphere in Fayetteville, the Longhorns offense should have a very productive day against the Razorbacks. The real danger from the Hogs defense lies in the defensive line. Landon Jackson and Xavier Sorey, Jr. will cause the Texas offensive line some problems. But if Ewers gets time, he should shred a very mediocre Arkansas secondary.

Prediction: Texas 42, Arkansas 17
