The hype surrounding the future of Texas’ football program is through the roof.
Brad Crawford of 247Sports recently took a look into the future and predicted what the Top 25 college football rankings could look in 2025. He used each schools three-year recruiting average, consistency of the current coaching staff, and quarterback rooms among other variables to determine the rankings.
247Sports experts are high on the Longhorns, ranking them as the No. 5 team in the country and a national championship contender in 2025. Here’s what Crawford had to say about Texas’ trajectory.
When you’re projecting, you’re guessing a bit based on data and the numbers show Steve Sarkisian has a playoff-capable roster in the coming years. He signed the fifth-best class nationally in 2022 per 247Sports and is slotted at No. 3 for the 2023 cycle, headlined by five-star quarterback Arch Manning. If we were talking NFL franchises here, Manning is the No. 1 pick and you’re set for the next four years. This is the situation the Longhorns are in, only he’s not the only talented playmaker anxious to get started in Austin. Quinn Ewers has a chance to be one of the nation’s best signal callers in 2023 and this Texas team next year could be even better.
Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, and LSU were the only programs listed ahead of Texas in the lookahead rankings. Tennessee, Clemson, USC, Penn State, and Wisconsin rounded out the top 10.
