As the NFL postseason unfolds, Buffalo and Kansas City could be on a collision course for the Peach State.
Because of Damar Hamlin’s cardiac arrest and the ensuing cancellation of the Bills’ Week 17 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, the NFL altered the AFC playoff seeding and locations.
The big one: If Buffalo and the top-seeded Chiefs face off in the AFC title game, the contest will be played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta instead of Arrowhead Stadium.
The neutral-site ruling was part of the league’s solution to the Bills having played only 16 games.
In the end, the Chiefs (14-3) were given the No. 1 seed since they had played all 17 games on their schedule. However, the Bills (13-3) defeated the Chiefs and would have been the top seed had they beaten the Bengals.
According to previous reports, Indianapolis and Detroit were suggested as potential locations, but it had been noted that those spots were off the table.
