Potential Bills draft prospect Justin Jefferson leaves LSU for NFL

LSU WR Justin Jefferson, a possible Buffalo Bills target, declared for the 2020 NFL draft.

Clemson wide receiver Tee Higgins declared for the 2020 NFL draft on Wednesday and another wideout on the other side of the field during the National Championship game is doing the same.

LSU’s Justin Jefferson is leaving his team of Tigers as he declared for the 2020 NFL draft via Yahoo Sports.

“We just had a perfect year,” Jefferson said after winning Monday’s title game. “We won the national championship and set records. We had a lot of awards and did it with our team. I feel like it was the best way to go.”

Like Higgins, Jefferson is a tall target. That makes the 6-foot-3 wideout a strong candidate for the Bills. Buffalo got some solid seasons from the likes of John Brown and Cole Beasley this year, however, the two are on the smaller side. In addition to still being productive, Brown and Beasley are multi-season vets. The Bills could stand to add some youth and depth in their receiver room.

Jefferson had 111 catches for 1,540 yards and 18 touchdowns this season, while grabbing balls from presumptive No. 1 overall pick in 2020, quarterback Joe Burrow. Under the lights of the title game, Jefferson had nine catches for 106 yards.

The upcoming 2020 wideout draft class is seen as a deeper class. Jefferson makes that grouping even bigger and he has been projected anywhere from a first-round pick to second-round pick in mock drafts. Buffalo holds the No. 22 overall pick in the first round of the upcoming draft.
