Growing up in the Lake Oswego area of Oregon, Joey Olsen was always aware of the Ducks. His childhood may not have been filled with Saturdays running around in a green and yellow jersey — in fact, his father is an Oregon State Beaver alumnus — but the Ducks have been a part of his world from an early age.
So when Olsen eventually became a four-star wide receiver at Lakeridge High School in Lake Oswego and was offered to visit Eugene, it wasn’t something he could turn down. It gave him an opportunity to look at the Oregon campus through the eyes of a recruit, rather than the son of a Beaver alumnus who even Olsen would admit is “not that big of a Beavers fan.”
Olsen, who stands at 6-foot-5 and is the No. 15 wide receiver in the 2024 recruiting class, was kind enough to sit down with Ducks Wire for an interview after his visit to Eugene, discussing what it was like to meet Oregon’s coaching staff, how the facilities held up to his expectations and a lot more.
