With the 2024 season concluding this past weekend at Circuit of the Americas, Porsche Motorsport North America (PMNA) has unveiled the 2024 Porsche Carrera Cup North America race calendar. The fourth season of the IMSA-sanctioned one-make race series will spread its 16-round, eight race weekend schedule with IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship events and North American Formula 1® rounds.
With the addition of the Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada, the Porsche Carrera Cup North America will now be the support series for Formula 1 on the continent for three events, including Miami and Circuit of the Americas. Porsche Carrera Cup North America will join IMSA for five weekends beginning with the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in March.
“Each year, we focus on ways to improve the experience and exposure of the Porsche Carrera Cup in North America for our customer teams, drivers and partners,” said Volker Holzmeyer, president and CEO of PMNA. “Having been on the sharp edge of the sport since 2021, this becomes more and more challenging each year. Taking into consideration the feedback of our stakeholders, we explored and have created what we feel is our most dynamic calendar.
“We have worked to be on the center stage of the biggest race events on the continent. Returning to Canada was important and doing so with the Grand Prix du Canada places us at the epicenter of motorsport, Formula 1, three times next season. Balancing this with five rounds at the most popular venues on the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship gives us the best way to highlight our drivers, teams and product in the sport today.”
Porsche Carrera Cup North America is adding the ANDIAL Cup in 2024 to provide competitors an additional award for competing at the most iconic road courses in North America. All full season competitors will receive automatic entry for the ANDIAL Cup, while those interested in running only at the more storied tracks will be presented the opportunity to compete for a championship. ANDIAL Cup tracks include Sebring International Raceway, Watkins Glen International, Road America, Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
All rounds of the 2024 Porsche Carrera Cup North America will again be found on a wide range of streaming options. IMSA.tv, the NBC Peacock streaming app and PorscheCarreraCup.us will all provide live coverage of each 40-minute race. Once the checkered flag has fallen, all rounds will be archived on the series YouTube channel. The experts of IMSA Radio will again provide commentary and color for the 16-race championship’s race calls.
