As the Philadelphia 76ers enter the 2020 NBA Draft, there is an obvious need for shooting. The team needs some help on the offensive end in order to space the floor properly for Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid.

One popular mock draft option has been Stanford freshman Tyrell Terry as he shot 40.8% from deep with the Cardinal and he can also play a little point guard as well. It is a pick that many believe would help the Sixers moving forward.

Our sister site, Rookie Wire, has put together its latest Big Board for the 2020 Draft led by Bryan Kalbrosky. He has Terry ranked 11th on his latest board and he praised his basketball IQ.

Kalbrosky on Terry:

Guard, 6-foot-1, 20 years old

CONSENSUS PROJECTION: Late 1st

REPRESENTATION: Beyond Athlete Management

Stanford’s Tyrell Terry, who is one of the best shooters off of the catch in this class, has also set records for basketball intelligence testing. Earlier this offseason, he told HoopsHype:

“I think the biggest key for me is having basketball IQ, being smart. I have to be savvy on the court. I can’t just plow through people. I got to maneuver my way around, be smart. I think that’s the biggest key for me: just having a high basketball IQ and being smart about things.”

He will need to focus on strength and conditioning to add size, but an unusually lengthened offseason will help him do exactly that. But with a mind for the game and the skills to match, expect Terry to have a long career in the pros.

The Sixers obviously need some shooting so Terry makes a lot of sense at 21 if they keep the pick. They also are in need of somebody who can handle the ball and have the IQ to match so they can move Simmons off the ball a bit more. He has shown that he has what it takes to succeed at the next level of basketball. [lawrence-related id=37779,37776,37771]
