Pokémon Legends: Arceus – Where to find Riolu

Wondering where to find Riolu in Pokémon Legends: Arceus? Our guide has you covered.

Ever since they were introduced back in Gen 4, Riolu and its evolved form Lucario have been exceptionally popular Pokémon. Because of this, it’s no wonder that both of them are catchable in Pokémon Legends: Arceus — although finding them will likely prove tricky for even the most knowledgeable trainers tackling the vast land of Hisui.

While Lucario is technically a rare spawn, your best bet for capturing your very own Aura Pokémon is to catch a Riolu and evolve it. Fortunately, we’ve been to every corner of Hisui and know exactly where this little guy tends to spawn.

Here’s everything you need to know about how to get Riolu in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus – Where to find Riolu

Riolu wandering around the Alabaster Icelands

If you want to add a Lucario to your team in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, you’ll need to progress a fair bit through the story first — specifically, you’ll need access to the Alabaster Icelands, which are only accessible after you defeat Hisuian Electrode and reach Galaxy Rank five.

Once you reach the Alabaster Icelands, Riolu can be encountered in one very specific location west of the initial base camp the Galaxy Survey Corps sets up there. It’s called Avalanche Slopes and can be accessed even prior to obtaining this area’s Ride Pokémon, Hisuian Braviary.

Once you arrive there and make your way past the Electabuzz and Elekid in the valley, you should be able to find a solitary Riolu wandering around in the cold. After catching it, all you need to do is level it up while raising its friendship. Once its friendship reaches a sufficiently high value, you’ll get the option to evolve Riolu into Lucario, netting you access to one of the most powerful Pokémon in the entire game.
