Pokémon Legends: Arceus – How to get Merit Points

Wondering what Merit Points are and how to get them? Look no further than this Pokémon Legends: Arceus guide.

Merit Points are a currency in Pokémon Legends: Arceus that the majority of Pokémon fans won’t recognize. Beyond that, Merit Points are something that quite a few people probably won’t even know exist — like many things in Legends: Arceus, they’re not something the game goes out of its way to tell you about.

Still, despite not being something the game is desperate to make you aware of, Merit Points are absolutely a concept you’ll need to wrap your head around if you want to gain access to some of the rarest items in the game — including ones needed for specific trade evolutions. Unless your friend is an inordinately kind benefactor who is willing to complete your Pokédex for you, this means you can’t actually catch ’em all without investing at least some time in the Merit Point system.

Here’s everything you need to know about Merit Points in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Merit Points are a currency in Pokémon Legends: Arceus that allow you to purchase lots of rare and unique items, including evolution stones and other items needed to make certain Pokémon evolve. They can be exchanged in Jubilife Village by talking to Simona, the same person who facilitates Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ online trading system.

Items that can be purchased using Merit Points include the Razor Claw, Protector, Reaper Cloth — used to evolve Sneasel, Rhydon, and Dusclops, respectively — and much more.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus – How to get Merit Points

The only way to get Merit Points in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is to use the game’s online Lost and Found system. As far as we can tell, this can also work offline in that NPCs will replace players, meaning that you can still earn Merit Points even without connecting to the internet.

Basically, the Lost and Found system tasks you with retrieving satchels that were dropped by players after they were knocked unconscious. These will be marked on the map by bag symbols — when you see one, simply interact with it and the lost items it contains will be returned to their original owner.

Once you’ve done this, select the “Lost and Found” option from the menu and claim your reward for returning the lost satchel. This will earn you Merit Points, which you can then spend on valuable items in Simona’s shop.
