Pokémon GO players walked a few billion miles in 2021 to catch them all

Everyone wants to be the best like no one ever was.

If it wasn’t obvious by now, Pokémon GO  is huge. Like, really big. So massive that its players looped around the earth many times over to catch their favorite pocket monsters.

Niantic, the company behind  Pokémon GO  and Ingress, shared its 2021 year in review results. There were several interesting metrics inside, including that players walked 6.93 billion kilometers ( roughly 4.3 billion miles) while playing Niantic’s games. It’s unclear how much of that stat is from Ingress  players, but probably not much, given that Pokémon GO is far and above the more popular title.

Some other wild metrics about Pokémon GO  in 2021 include:

  • 12 billion gifts sent
  • 3.9 billion Eggs hatched
  • 10.269 billion Pokémon caught during 2021 Community Days

It’s almost like this game is popular or something. Who knew! It makes even League of Legends’ numbers seem quaint by comparison.

Anyone eager who wants to be the very best would do wise to check out some of our Pokémon GO guides. There are tips on countering  ZekromReshiram, and Heatran during raids. Not to mention  a full walkthrough  that goes into much greater detail on the game’s more challenging fights.
