The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the top contenders in the Eastern Conference and they will no doubt be involved before the March 25 trade deadline looking to improve the team. One area on the team that could use an upgrade is the bench unit who has struggled recently without the injured Shake Milton.
There has been interest from the team in trading for Sacramento Kings forward Nemanja Bjelica who is a guy who would bring a stretch 4 aspect to the team. He is a proven player and he fills a specific bench need for the team.
As the trade deadline approaches, there will be plenty of rumors and reports, and that means it’s time to evaluate them all.
On Monday, the latest rumor is the Sixers have interest in trading for Detroit Pistons guard Delon Wright or Oklahoma City Thunder guard George Hill. They are both very solid players at the point guard position and they would be nice fits playing behind star Ben Simmons, but point guard is not an area of need on this team right now.
The Sixers are in the market for a point guard. Two players the team has inquired about are Detroit’s Delon Wright & Oklahoma City’s George Hill, a source tells me.

The Sixers still have Milton as well as promising rookie Tyrese Maxey who will both play important roles on this team. Milton is averaging 14.0 points and he provides both scoring and playmaking off the bench. Once he returns from his injury, the team’s bench unit will be able to be full again and will be able to produce at a high level as they were before.
As for Maxey, he has shown flashes as a 20-year old averaging 8.7 points and shooting 45.5% while still developing and he looks like he will have a bright future in Philadelphia. When the team was severely shorthanded due to the health and safety protocols, he stepped in and provided some really good play under some tough circumstances and there is no real reason to stunt his growth at the moment.
The only reasons to trade for Wright or Hill would be if they believe Milton will be out for an extended period of time and if they don’t believe Maxey can seriously help come playoff time. Then, a move for a guy like Hill who has experience going deep into the playoffs or Wright who can be productive off the bench like Milton has been would make some sense. Other than that, there is not much sense for team president Daryl Morey to go after a point guard at this point in time and give up assets.
