Mike Conley came unbelievably close to hitting a game-winner for the ages in Game 7

This was sooooo close to being an epic buzzer-beater.

The Denver Nuggets and Utah Jazz played a fantastic Game 7 on Tuesday night that came down to the final seconds, which was fitting for what was such a fun series.

And man did the Jazz come so close to winning this one in absolutely dramatic fashion. Instead, Mike Conley’s 3-point attempt went in and out at the buzzer, giving Denver the the 80-78 victory and a date with the Los Angeles Clippers in the second round of the playoffs.

The final 17 seconds of this game were so frantic. A Utah turnover gave the Nuggets a chance to put the game away but a missed shot gave Utah one last chance. Conley was able to sprint down the court and get a great look at a game-winner, but it didn’t fall.

Look at how close this was:

If that goes in it’s easily one of the best buzzer-beaters in NBA playoff history, given that it was a Game 7 and that it was just a wild finish.

Here’s the frantic last seconds:

I don’t know why the Nuggets didn’t just pull up and draw a foul instead of trying to get a bucket, but I’m glad they didn’t because that ending was a lot more fun.

Well, unless you are Conley and the Jazz.
