Player grades: Lonnie Walker IV scores 20 as Nets fall to Celtics 121-107

Here are the Nets player grades for Friday’s 121-107 In-Season Tournament 121-107 loss to the Boston Celtics.

The Brooklyn Nets visited TD Garden on Friday to play their second game of the In-Season Tournament against the Boston Celtics and lost 121-107.

For the Nets, Lonnie Walker IV had 20 points and seven rebounds while Trendon Watford had 14 points and seven rebounds. Dennis Smith Jr. had 14 points and Spencer Dinwiddie had 12 points.

For the Celtics, Jaylen Brown had 28 points and five assists while Jayson Tatum had 23 points and 10 rebounds. Sam Hauser had 15 points off the bench and Jrue Holiday had 13 points.

In the first half, the Nets lost the half by 12 points as they had trouble stopping Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum from scoring easily against their defense. While Brooklyn had similar shooting numbers to Boston, the Celtics just had too much offensive firepower for the Nets to be able to deal with.

In the second half, Brooklyn made some progress in lowering its deficit in the third quarter as Brown and Tatum started to cool off a bid from their torrid first-half scoring pace. In the fourth quarter, however, Brown and Tatum started to regain their rhythm and once Brooklyn had issues scoring outside of Lonnie Walker IV, the Celtics began to pull away until the Nets waived the white flag with about eight minutes to go in the period.
