P.J. Walker, 4 other XFL players Bills should pursue

Now that XFL players are free to sign with NFL rosters, here are five players the Buffalo Bills should pursue.

Though the Bills currently have six – yes, six – tight ends under contract, not one of them match the physical profile of Donald Parham.

The 6-foot-8, 237-pound athlete looks more like a power forward than he does a tight end. Though he’s relatively raw as both a blocker and pass-catcher, his build is something that will likely catch the eye of most NFL executives.

His production in the XFL was impressive, as well, as he led all tight ends with 307 receiving yards on 24 catches.

The Bills lack a matchup nightmare at tight end – as their tallest players at the position are the oft-injured Tyler Kroft and Lee Smith, a blocking specialist who matches Kroft in height at 6-foot-5. Combine this with their lack of size at wide receiver, and it’s clear that Buffalo is in desperate need of some sizeable pass catchers.

You’re not going to find many pass-catchers larger than Parham. Though he likely shouldn’t be placed on the field in blocking scenarios, he would be an interesting red-zone threat, a go-up-and-get-it player who many linebackers and defensive backs would have difficultly covering.

There would be no harm in bringing in the Parham to compete with Tommy Sweeney and Jason Croom at the bottom of the depth chart. Worst case scenario, he’s off the roster in August. Best case? He’s a matchup nightmare who, at 22-years-of-age, could one day develop into an interesting offensive weapon.
