Pistons’ Saddiq Bey named Eastern Conference Player of the Week

Bey averaged 17.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and two assists in four games to help the Pistons to a 3-1 record on the week.

Detroit Pistons rookie Saddiq Bey on Monday was named the NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week to become just the second rookie in franchise history to ever win the award.

Bey averaged 17.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and two assists in four games to help the Pistons to a 3-1 record on the week. Perhaps most impressive, Bey shot 69.6% (16-of-23) from 3-point range as the 19th overall pick made some history.

On Friday, Bey scored a career-high 30 points and 12 rebounds in a win over the Boston Celtics. He went a perfect 7-of-7 from 3-point range, becoming the fourth rookie in NBA history to score at least 30 points with seven 3-pointers.

Bey has played a key role with the Pistons and has emerged as one of the top rookies to this point. He has also likely established himself as one of the best shooters in the class and a case can be made that he is the best of his rookie peers.
