Pistons: Cade Cunningham to miss 4th straight game due to hip injury

The No. 1 pick will miss his fourth straight game because of a right hip pointer suffered last week.

Detroit Pistons rookie Cade Cunningham will not play Tuesday on the road versus the Dallas Mavericks due to a right hip pointer, head coach Dwane Casey said prior to the contest.

Cunningham initially suffered the injury on Feb. 1 in a loss against the New Orleans Pelicans. The game on Tuesday, which will be near his hometown of Arlington, will be the fourth straight Cunningham has missed because of the injury.

The No. 1 pick last week was named the NBA Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month after averaging 17.3 points, 5.6 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.1 steals in January. He led all first-year players in scoring and became the sixth Pistons rookie to win the award.

The Pistons have taken a cautious approach to injuries in the past with Cunningham. The team will make sure he is fully ready to play before clearing him to return, which could be on Thursday at home versus the Memphis Grizzlies.
