Detroit Pistons rookie Cade Cunningham is questionable to play on Thursday versus the Minnesota Timberwolves due to a right hip injury, the team announced.
Cunningham suffered the injury on Tuesday in a loss to the New Orleans Pelicans. He exited the contest midway through the third quarter and would not return. Pistons head coach Dwane Casey said after the game he suffered a hip pointer and would be reevaluated on Thursday.
He finished with six points, five rebounds and two steals in 21 minutes.
The Pistons did not practice on Wednesday and did not have media availability, as a result. The next update on Cunningham’s status will be provided prior to tip off on Thursday as the No. 1 pick could be a game-time decision.

Cunningham on Wednesday was named the NBA Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month after averaging 17.3 points, 5.6 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.1 steals in January. He led all first-year players in scoring and became the sixth Pistons rookie to win the award.
The Pistons and Timberwolves will tip off at 7 p.m. EST on Thursday.
