After a long and winless five-game road trip, the Houston Rockets (1-9) finally return to Toyota Center to kick off a three-game homestand with Wednesday’s game versus Detroit (1-8). If you’re wondering how you can watch all of the action live, you’ve come to the right place.
It’s a rare nationally televised game for the rebuilding Rockets, primarily because the obvious storyline is a matchup between Cade Cunningham and Jalen Green — the top two overall picks from the 2021 NBA draft. Houston and Green got the better of Detroit and Cunningham in summer league, but the stakes are much different in regular-season play.
Both rookies are off to slow starts in the 2021-22 season, with Green shooting 35.3% from the field and 28.6% on 3-pointers, and Cunningham even worse at 23.2% and 14.3%, respectively. However, tough schedules for each team certainly haven’t helped. On Wednesday, each rookie will have an opportunity to heat up versus a weaker opponent.

Projected lineups are based on each team’s game notes. Veteran big man Kelly Olynyk, who played well for the Rockets late in the 2020-21 season after being acquired at the trade deadline, will come off the bench for Detroit in his first return to Toyota Center since leaving the team.
As for injuries, Eric Gordon (right groin tightness) and Danuel House Jr. (right foot sprain) are set to return after missing time in recent days, but Kevin Porter Jr. (left thigh contusion) is questionable. John Wall remains out due to a mutual decision for him not to play, with Houston prioritizing minutes for the development of younger players.
Detroit’s injury report lists Killian Hayes as probable to return after missing Friday’s game due to a left thumb sprain.
From their respective NBA rosters, the Pistons have placed Luka Garza, Saben Lee, Isaiah Livers, Jamorko Pickett, and Chris Smith in the G League, while Houston has Garrison Mathews and Daishen Nix there.
