On Tuesday night, the Wisconsin Badgers took down the Michigan Wolverines in a 64-59 back-and-forth victory at the Kohl Center. The Badgers contained Michigan center Hunter Dickinson on the defensive side of the ball and were led by a career-high 23-point night from freshman guard Connor Essegian on offense.
Essegian’s career shooting night, surprisingly, was not his best game from the three-point line with him going 2-7 from deep. Instead, Wisconsin’s true freshman guard took advantage of the Wolverines’ poor help defense off of screens and was able to force fouls as he drove to the basket. He converted nine of his ten free throws with five coming in the last minute to help the Badgers close out the game.
Wisconsin will continue its home stretch with another crucial game against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Saturday morning.
