Even though they got into foul trouble in the second half, the Wisconsin Badgers were able to pull out a 64-59 win against the No. 13-ranked Maryland Terrapins in their Big Ten opener.
Wisconsin point guard Chucky Hepburn led the team in scoring with 13 points, while forward Tyler Wahl had another great defensive performance with nine points, five rebounds, two blocks and a steal before fouling out at the end of the game. The Badgers’ defense was able to force 14 turnovers and limited the Terrapins to 38.2% shooting from the field.
Although it was not the prettiest victory, the Badgers have continued to win by forcing their opponents into low-scoring defensive battles. Wisconsin will move on to face the No. 24-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes on the road on Sunday.
