The Washington Commanders shut down the Dallas Cowboys, 26-6, in the season finale Sunday and finished the 2022 season with an 8-8-1 record.
It was a good day for Washington fans, as the Commanders jumped out to a 13-0 lead and never looked back. In what was perhaps Daniel Snyder’s last game as owner of Washington, Dallas fans were leaving FedEx Field with several minutes remaining in the game.
Rookie quarterback Sam Howell made his first career start, completing 11 of 19 passes for 169 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Howell also rushed for 35 yards and a score.
Washington’s defense, down multiple starters, held the high-powered Cowboys offense to only 182 total yards as quarterback Dak Prescott completed just 14 of 37 passes for 128 yards.
