The Washington Commanders have now won three games in a row after Sunday’s 17-16 win over the Indianapolis Colts. At 4-4, Washington remains firmly in the race for the NFC’s final wild-card spot despite being in last place in the NFC East.
Quarterback Taylor Heinicke completed 23 of 31 passes for 279 yards, with one touchdown and interception in the win. He also rushed for 29 yards and scored the game-winning touchdown.
It was Heinicke’s magic that led to a pair of fourth-quarter scoring drives, including a 33-yard completion to Terry McLaurin with 26 seconds remaining to give the Commanders a first and goal. Heinicke would score on the next play to give Washington the win.
