The Washington Commanders opened the 2022 NFL season with a 28-22 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday. Quarterback Carson Wentz put on a show, passing for 313 yards and four touchdowns in the win. In typical Wentz fashion, he also threw two interceptions but responded by leading the Commanders on back-to-back touchdown drives to win the game.
Wide receiver Jahan Dotson caught two touchdowns in his first NFL game, while Terry McLaurin also got in on the action with a 49-yard touchdown. However, it was wide receiver Curtis Samuel who was Wentz’s favorite target, catching eight passes in the season opener.
It wasn’t a great day for Washington’s defense, but it made enough plays when it mattered the most to help the Commanders come away with a 1-0 record.
