PHOTOS: Tennessee-Florida football series through the years

Tennessee and Florida first played each other in football on Oct. 28, 1916.

The Vols defeated Florida, 24-0, in Tampa, Florida.

Tennessee won the first 10 contests in the series. The Gators were first victorious against Tennessee on Nov. 13, 1954 (W, 14-0).

The series has been played in the following cities: Tampa, Florida; Knoxville, Tennessee; Jacksonville, Florida and Gainesville, Florida.

The series has produced connections between the two schools. Bob Woodruff played at Tennessee and served as head coach at Florida, an assistant coach with the Vols and athletics director at Florida and Tennessee.

Ray Graves played for the Vols, while serving as Florida’s head coach, an assistant coach at Tennessee and athletics director for the Gators.

Doug Dickey played at Florida, and was head coach at Tennessee and Florida. He also served as athletics director at Tennessee.
