It was an outcome that most did not expect, both in the victory as well as the total points scored between the Florida Gators and LSU Tigers Saturday in the Swamp. The two schools combined for 80 points in a shootout that ultimately favored the visitors, 45-35.
The story of this game was how Billy Napier’s boys were unable to stop the Bayou Bengals on offense, forcing just one punt while allowing the Tigers to trample them on their own turf. Florida’s offense was able to keep pace early on but could simply not keep up with the yardage the defense surrendered to the opponent.
Quarterback Anthony Richardson finished with some fine numbers, though they were inflated by big plays that mask his overall ineffectiveness as he struggled to find a rhythm once again. The ground game held its own as well though the absence of offensive lineman O’Cyrus Torrence was definitely felt.
