Florida baseball kept its postseason hopes alive with a 8-2 win over the Connecticut Huskies in the first game on Sunday of the Gainesville Regional. After defeating the Florida A&M Aggies and losing to the Texas Tech Raiders, the Gators earned a chance to enact revenge for their loss on Saturday… or else they go home empty-handed.
The Orange and Blue got starter Hurston Waldrep’s very best effort on the bump while the bats finally broke through for Kevin O’Sullvan’s squad. Waldrep struck out 12 batters over seven frames, allowing just one earned run on five hits and two walks.
Jac Caglianone paced the offense with his 30th and 31st home runs of the season to take the national lead in that category.
