Florida baseball earned a 5-3 victory over its in-state rivals, the Florida State Seminoles, on Tuesday evening at Condron Family Ball Park in Gainesville, Florida, thanks to a clutch late-inning home run to give the Gators their final tally.
Ty Evans, who did not start and was even passed up for a pitch-hit opportunity earlier came in as a defensive replacement in the top of the eighth inning, eventually making it to the plate to slug his way into the annals of UF lore. It took Florida three pitchers to cut through FSU’s lineup, with Ryan Slater getting the start and Cade Fisher, who earned his third win, bridging the gap to closer Brandon Neeley, who earned his seventh save.
